RIP – DOROTHY BECKETT

EXPIRED: 09/06/09 – Dorothy Beckett, 104, was a Wimbledon champ in 1933 and in 1934. She put the tennis racket away, however, so she could work as an ambulance driver during the Second World War.

She moved from the United Kingdom to the United States at age 50 and married a mailman when she was 62. And though she switched from being a tennis pro to focusing on badminton later in life, it was always a game of LOVE.
