EXPIRED: 09/16/09 – Jeffrey Thomas, 69, believed politicians shouldn’t run unopposed so he repeatedly ran for congress to encourage dialogue among candidates on universal health care, education, senior citizen and job issues. He never won, but he loved the debate and thought the opponents should be challenged.
He also wrote each of his 3 kids a poem before they went to college.
After he retired from a life as an orthopedic surgeon, he ran a free clinic in his Janesville, Wisconsin community. Why? because people needed it.
Seemed like a decent guy.
