EXPIRED:  09/17/09 – Bernie Fuchs, 76, wanted to play trumpet but lost 3 fingers in an accident. So he turned to art, blending traditional narrative w/ hints of abstract composition to define a style for the 50s & 60s.

Based in Connecticut, he became one of the busiest commercial artists of his time, working for businesses such as Coca-Cola, Ford and Seagram’s, as well as magazines including TV Guide and Look.

He made advertising beautiful.
