EXPIRED: – Art Ferrante, 88, and Lou Teicher wore big black glasses, sequins & ruffles. Like a pair of nerdy Liberaces, they were billed as the Grand Twins of the Twin Grands. Pianos have 88 keys but together they sold 88 million records.

Born in Brooklyn, Ferrante attended Juilliard, where he met child prodigy, Lou Teicher. After graduating he moved to Hollywood to score films for Irving Berlin. But he returned to Juilliard to teach and resumed his friendship with Teicher.

They performed at nightclubs and won a radio contest with a rendition of “Begin the Beguine,” the prize being a concert of their own in Manhattan.

The rest is showbiz history.
