RIP – SALEM SAAD

EXPIRED: 11/18/09 – Salem Saad, 31, was another footballer who is making me ask “What the hell is going on with soccer players dropping dead this season?”

Saad was a United Arab Emirati footballer who played as a striker for the Al-Shabab and Al-Nasr teams. He’d been playing for United Arab Emirates since 2004, scoring 2 goals in 27 games.

Saad collapsed during a routine training session at Al Maktoum Stadium after suffering a massive heart attack. He was immediately rushed to the Rashid hospital’s intensive care unit but died soon after arrival.

Saad had only just joined Al-Nasr in June after captaining Al-Shabab to the league title last year.
