RIP – JAMES SULLIVAN

EXPIRED: 12/28/09 – James Sullivan, 28, better known by his stage name, The Rev, was the drummer and back-up vocalist for the band Avenged Sevenfold, and lead vocalist in the avant-garde metal band Pinkly Smooth with fellow Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates.

Just when you thought there weren’t any more days left in the year for additional deaths of  talented musicians (starting with Michael jackson who influenced this blog and working our way up to last week’s suicide of Vic Chesnutt) now The Rev passes away at his home in Huntington Beach, California.

Details are scarce at this time, but police say they believe Sullivan’s death to be of natural causes. Barring a revelation of an illness or unusual circumstance, we’re guessing that a more accurate and/or specific cause of death will be released shortly. Meanwhile, the Orange County Coroner’s Office are still investigating and so far the results of the autopsy are inconclusive. They dont suspect foul play. He was attending a wedding a few days ago and seemed fine, friends say.

Sullivan was found unresponsive in the Huntington Beach home he lived in with his wife, Leana MacFadden, a former nude internet model who went by the name Teen Topanga aka Leana Silver aka Miss Plague.

Besides his wife, Sullivan is survived by bandmates Matthew Sanders (M. Shadows), Zachary Baker (Zacky Vengeance), Brian Haner (Synyster Gates), and Jonathan Seward (Johnny Christ).
