EXPIRED: 04/02/10 – Thomas Angove, 92, had a son who didn’t believe in him. Luckily, winos and cheap dates everywhere felt otherwise.
Angove was an Australian winemaker who was looking for a new way to make wine easier to stack on the retail shelves. His invention?
Nearly 45 years after his first prototype, boxed wine has become a popular drinking for those looking for decent wine at a reasonable price. Some even prefer it.
His son John Angove, who has since taken over the business now, wasn’t too sold on the boxed wine concept at the start.
“That’s ridiculous,” he recalls thinking, “nobody is going to buy wine out of a cardboard box and a plastic bag.”
Think again. We love the grape, it all varieties.
