EXPIRED: 05/12/10 – Phyllis Hodges Boyce, 73, was born Phyllis Callow, the daughter of director Ridgeway Callow. She started her acting career at the age of two when she was thrust into the movies – uncredited – as Bonnie Blue Butler in “Gone with the Wind.” In fact, her death has brings to just a handful the number of surviving cast members from “Gone with the Wind.”

Later she appeared in TV shows often credited as Phyllis Douglas, including two episodes of the original Star Trek television series as Yeoman Mears, who was a female crew member of the USS Enterprise.

For you trekkies who need this info: In Episode TOS 014, Yeoman Mears was aboard the Shuttlecraft Galileo in Stardate 2267 when it crashed on Taurus II. Mears was a survivor of the incident, returning to duty on the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.

She later had a more adventurous career as a real estate agent in Malibu.

  1. Thanks for the link in your comment on my blog. I read through some of your posts and find this so fascinating because my friends and I play, for points, “dead celebrities” and we race to see who can text the other first. I recently got the points for Dixie Carter and Lena Horne, but lost big points last year for both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. Anyway, on your post about Phyllis Hodges Boyce, I believe Olivia de Havilland is still alive, so there is still at least one surviving cast member of Gone With the Wind.
I will be checking back on your blog on a daily basis.
