EXPIRED: 07/08/11 – Roberts Blossom, 87, was a Harvard grad who landed his 1st film role in ‘59 in Our Town. While he rarely carried a movie, he’s the actor you remember: the farmer who had several brushes w/ the paranormal in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”; the inmate who loved to paint in “Escape from Alcatraz”; the codger who owned the killer car in “Christine”; and the scary, snow-shoveling neighbor in “Home Alone.” He retired from acting in the late-1990s to be a poet.
