EXPIRED: 07/12/11 – Sherwood Schwartz, 94, was pursuing a Masters in biology when, in need of a job, he started writing jokes for Bob Hope. Hope hired him full time and science was a thing of the past. The relationship between employee and employer were so good, Schwartz named his daughter “Hope” to honor the comic. His next job was a little different. He hated Red Skelton. After writing for The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet he turned to development and created “Gilligan’s Island” and “The Brady Bunch” and one of my favorites, “It’s About Time.” He also wrote the classic theme songs for these shows!
