EXPIRED: 08/03/11 – Bubba Smith, 66, drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 67, was one of the first pass-rushers and sack artists, long before sacks were first tabulated as an official NFL statistic in ’82. He was in pro football as being nearly impossible to block. He later played for the Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers, appeared in two Pro Bowls and in two Super Bowls. After he retired in 76 he became perhaps even more well-known as an actor, striking gold in the “Police Academy” movies, playing florist turned cop, Moses Hightower. You’ll also know him from his “Tastes Great; Less Filling” Miller Lite TV spots.
