RIP – FRANK DILEO

EXPIRED: 08/24/11 – Frank DiLeo, 63, was a sleazy music industry exec who started small, made EPIC Records a major player, and possibly burned his house down fir the insurance money. At one time he managed or worked with Prince, Quiet Riot, REO Speedwagon, Ozzy Osbourne, Gloria Estefan, Luther Vandross, Meat Loaf, Richie Sambora, Taylor Dayne, Jodeci, Laura Branigan, Cyndi Lauper, Culture Club and Michael Jackson. He received over 80 gold and platinum awards. But made a lot of enemies.

But he wasn’t loved by everyone. Sheryl Crow’s “The Na-Na Song,” rips him with the lyrics “Clarence Thomas organ grinder Frank DiLeo’s dong / Maybe if I’d let him I’d have had a hit song.”

He used his sleaziness in his acting, especially when cast as gangster Tuddy Cicero in Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas.”
