EXPIRED: 09/26/11 – Sergio Bonelli, 78, was the son of an Italian comic book so he became one too.
In order to distinguish himself from his father, Gian Luigi Bonelli, the creator of strip Tex Willer, Bonelli wrote his scripts under the pen name Guido Nolitta. Starting in 1957, Bonelli created his first character Un ragazzo nel Far West (‘A boy in the Far West’), a year later. He was also the author of Little Ranger, Il Giudice Bean, River Bill and Zagor. In 1975 he created the Mister No series.
He worked with great illustrators like Franco Bignotti, Sergio Tarquinio, Gallieno Ferri, Aurelio Galleppini and Francesco Gamba.
He later became the chairman of Sergio Bonelli Editore , one of Italy’s major comics publishers whose titles include my favorite: Dylan Dog.
